WHO SAYS THERE IS GLOBAL WARMING??

You may or may not believe the latest news concerning global warming, but it is obvious they do not believe it in the Bahamas.  Recently, MFI transported a youth group from Titusville, Florida to Marsh Harbor, Bahamas to work with Pastor Robin Weatherford.  Part of the props that the teens used to present a Bible School program to the kids in the Bahamas was a couple of Christmas trees, and yes... a snowmobile.  Since the Bahamas is asking for snowmobiles, I would not get overly anxious about global warming.  Pray that the Bible school program will "snowball" into a mighty impact for the children in the Bahamas.

MFI TRANSPORTS BURN PATIENTS FROM HAITI TO UNITED STATES

Several times this year, MFI has been called upon to transport sick or injured people from Haiti.  In March, we transported our second burned girl from Haiti to the United States.  After arriving in Florida on the MFI DC-3, the girls were flown on to Boston by an air ambulance Lear Jet.

"Dear Mr. Snook,

From the bottom of my heart I want to thank you for flying from Haiti with your planes to save the life of the children in Haiti...On March 16, Nicole Phanor, 13 years old, was rescued miraculously by your mission after being burned by a family member...who wanted to kill her.  She was burned with kerosene.  Thanks to God and thanks to MFI, she is alive and receiving care at the Shriners Hospital in Boston, MA.  May God continue to bless your mission and your families."

Gina Eugene, Nicole's nurse

MFI'S FOUNDER "SEES" HIS DREAM COME TRUE

Today was a very special day for MFI's Founder Don Beldin, an opportunity for him to visit the new "Don and Jo Beldin Missions Aviation Complex" in Fort Pierce.  MFI President Dick Snook flew to Ocala, Florida, near Don and Jo's home, to pick up MFI's Founder and fly him in for a guided tour of the new facility.  42 years after Missionary Flights began in 1964, Don Beldin's dream of a home for MFI has become a reality.  Praise the Lord!!

Today, you can also assist MFI with your "On Line" gift in support of our "New Home in Fort Pierce".

PRAISE THE LORD!!  MFI MOVING TO A NEW HOME IN FORT PIERCE

"Call unto me and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." Jeremiah 33:3

After searching for nearly five years, the Lord has provided a "New Home" for MFI.  We have made an agreement to purchase an existing hangar/warehouse complex at the St. Lucie International Airport in Fort Pierce, Florida.  MFI will be moving to the new location in March.  We are so grateful for your faithful praying and giving the past five years.  Because many of you have been donating to our "New Home" account, we have 50% of the necessary funds.  The total cost is $1.7 million.  The current owner will carry the balance due, and MFI will pay off the debt as soon as the funds come in.  Your prayers and gifts are greatly needed right now.  Today, you can assist MFI with your "On Line" gift in support of our "New Home in Fort Pierce".  "Ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf", II Cor. 1:11.  Thank you again for your faithful commitment to missions and MFI.

The photographs below will introduce you to MFI's new home in Fort Pierce.  Please check our "Up To The Minute" page often for further updates on our move, and additional information about MFI's new facility.

After 42 years at Palm Beach International, MFI was relegated to a small patch of broken ramp space, with our support equipment crammed around the aircraft and under the wings.

The new MFI facility is a stark contrast to our recent past history.  The hangar will house all three of our DC-3's, with room to spare.

Behind the inside back wall of the 28,000 sq. ft. hangar is an additional 7,000 sq. ft. of office, warehouse, and shop space.  Another 7,000 sq. ft. of storage space is located on the second floor.  What a blessing for all of our staff to serve the Lord and missions in the same building!

Left: With operations all located in one facility, MFI will now have close coordination between the office, the pilots, and the maintenance staff.  Center: It took a lot of negotiations between the officials in Ft. Pierce and the MFI executive committee to seal the purchase of MFI's "New Home".  Right: With the EPA approved paint booth in the maintenance shop, MFI mechanics can stay ahead of the corrosion that attacks the skin of our DC-3 aircraft.

OHIO CONSTRUCTION/ELECTRICAL TEAM TRAVELS BACK TO HAITI

Every other year, the Southridge Baptist Church from Conneaut, Ohio travels to Haiti with MFI to work with the EBAC orphanage.  Over the years they have completed construction projects as well as education programs for the Haitian children.  Thanks to the folks from Southridge, the children are being educated using English as a first language.  Of course the children speak their native Creole, but because they are being educated in English, they will be bilingual, which will help them with their job search in the future.  This year, the team from Southridge, led by their pastor Dr. Roger Hogle, is undertaking a major construction project at EBAC.  The photos below show the team loading the MFI DC-3 in preparation for the early morning flight to Haiti.  Your gift to the MFI "On Line" giving, will assure that MFI is available to missions for their major projects.

MEDICAL/DENTAL TEAMS BRING CARE AND HOPE TO HAITI

Each year, groups of medical and dental work teams travel to Haiti to offer critically needed care to the people there.  Local churches sponsor these teams, providing the facilities to set up temporary medical and dental offices.  A recent team from Camano Island, Washington, traveled to Cap Haitien to offer free care at two churches.  In addition to the medical and dental care, two Haitian men were trained to make simple eyeglasses for those in need.  They will now be encouraged to start a business, using materials supplied to them from supporters in the United States.  During the one-week visit, about ten Haitians were also employed as translators for the team.  The photos below show some of the story from the team's visit to Cap Haitien.  Click on any of the thumbnail photos to see them full-size.

The team prepares necessary medicines and vitamins before heading out.

Transportation for the team is an adventure in itself.

The translators work hard to bridge the gap between English, Creole, and French.

These young men are being taught the skill of making simple eyeglasses.

Putting the frames together.

The team uses a very basic method of testing eyesight to determine which lens is needed.

A young girl receives dental care, which is hard to find in a country like Haiti.

Sterilizing the equipment is crucial, yet challenging, in this temporary setting.

Local dentists are trained with the equipment brought by the Camano Island team.

A mother watches closely as her daughter is examined.

The most important piece of the work is to share the Good News of Christ.

After a time of sharing, the work team members take a moment to pray with those who came to them for care.

RESCUE FLIGHTS - PART OF MFI'S SERVICE TO MISSIONS

The missionary community in Haiti and the Dominican Republic relies on MFI for any emergency family transportation.  Recently, in one week, MFI was called upon to help the mission community twice.  At 11:30 PM, on January 7th, MFI received an urgent call concerning a Haitian family that had been burned in a propane explosion.  Most of the family members were treated in Haiti, but 9 year old Minovna was burned over 70% of her little body.  At 5 AM on Sunday morning, our rescue Cessna 310, with the tail number of N911MF, was in the air bound for Haiti.  Little Minovna was placed on a stretcher in the plane and by early afternoon, she was in West Palm Beach.  We transferred her to a medical jet and she was flown to a Shriners burn center in Boston, MA where she is undergoing treatment.  Six days later, our rescue plane was headed for Haiti again.  A call came in that long time missionaries, Don and Doris Peavey were very ill.  MFI transported Don and Doris from Haiti to St. Petersburg, Florida, where they were met by their daughter and immediately taken to a hospital.  Doris was diagnosed with a ruptured appendix and Don had pneumonia.  The doctor said if Doris had waited another day or two, she would not have survived the ruptured appendix.  Your gifts and your prayers for MFI have helped save two lives this week.  Thanks to many of you, MFI is ready at a moment's notice to launch a rescue flight.  Please consider an "On Line" donation to help MFI sustain our emergency efforts for the mission community.  The photos below show N911MF preparing to leave on the rescue flight to transport Don and Doris Peavey, and N911MF in Haiti.
