MFI's "Missionary Spotlight":
showing the people who are sharing the
Gospel in the West Indies
March Spotlight - Stan Curtis

Stan Curtis first came to MFI as a
summer volunteer in the mid-1990's, helping in the warehouse and
acting as a flight attendant. He then served full-time as MFI's
warehouse manager for two years, while his late wife Shirley served
as an office secretary. When the Lord led Stan and Shirley back to their home in Indiana, Stan began organizing MFI
work teams to go and serve in Haiti. These short term mission trips
often focus on a specific work project, while others emphasize
evangelism and becoming acquainted with missions in Haiti. Recent
work projects have included constructing a church addition, replacing
a missionary home's roof, repairing the roof on a mission's dorm, and
setting up and operating a medical/dental clinic. Often Stan
brings groups to Haiti on an initial VIP (Vision, Inspiration and
Purpose) trip, specifically designed to introduce people to missions
in Haiti. After seeing where and what they feel led to do, they
return to Haiti as part of a specific work or evangelism team. Stan
organizes 8-10 mission trips to Haiti each year.

Recently, the Lord has placed on Stan's heart to ship Bibles to
Haiti, in partnership with
Seedline International. Over the last five years, the MFI Bible Project has shipped over
1 million Books of John and Romans in Creole, as well as hundreds of
thousands of Creole New Testaments to the Haitian people. Food and
clothing are included in the container that brings the Bibles to
Haiti. While the very first shipment of Bibles and food did not fill
a 20' shipping container, in 2004 two full 20' and two full 40'
containers were delivered. Praise the Lord! In addition, Stan now
organizes an annual
Christmas Bags For Haiti
project, which delivers small gift bags to children in Haiti. 675
bags were sent in 2003, and over 4,300 were sent last year.
This year the goal is to deliver 10,000 gift bags to the children of
Haiti.
There are many ways in which the Lord can use His people to share
the love of Christ. Each month we will show how different
people have answered His call, and through the ministry of MFI, have
gone forth to share the Gospel in the West Indies.
