For those of us in the United States, if our car breaks down, while an inconvenience, we can arrange for it to be fixed or go to the car parts store and easily get the parts.  For the missionary in Haiti and the Dominican Republic a broken down car is an extreme hardship.  Parts are rare, and if available, extremely expensive.

MFI provides a vital service by acting as a purchasing agent for the missionaries, not just for car parts, but for any items they might need.  This process allows the missionaries to only contact MFI with the request.  MFI then locates the item, purchases, packages, and then ships the item on the next available flight.  Because MFI does this on a large scale, we usually find a better price than the individual missionaries can get, thus saving money for them in the process!  This service eases the stress on the missionary who, before this process was available, was responsible for procuring the items themselves.
