MFI's Fort Pierce Banquet 2011

MFI hosted the Fort Pierce Banquet on Veteran's Day in November. We enjoyed a delicious meal, special music, pictures & videos, and a special time of honoring our veterans. We shared what God has been doing at MFI, all the provisions He has given to us, and ways we are making an impact in the islands of the West Indies. During the banquet, board member Dr. Ron Giddens offered a special prayer of dedication for our latest turbine DC-3, N500MF. He asked the Lord to use it for His glory and allow it to be a blessing to the missionaries and those they serve in Haiti and the other islands of the Caribbean. The Maiden Voyage of N500MF

On Tuesday September 13, 2011 the newest MFI turbine DC-3 completed its maiden voyage to Haiti. The airplane flew flawlessly thanks to all of the professional efforts of everyone involved in the updating and overhauling of nearly every system on the airplane. This airplane carries more weight than any of our other aircraft and it does it in style. Going to Haiti, we cruised at 17,000 feet at an average of 240 mph. On the flight home to Fort Pierce, we averaged 235 mph. Today, with fuel cost so high, efficiency is very important for MFI. We moved nearly 7,000 pounds of mission cargo to Haiti yesterday and brought 7 passengers home including a badly injured motorcycle accident victim. A special thanks to everyone who has prayed and given to this aircraft project. As MFI reaches our corner of the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ N500MF will be a blessing to many hurting people in Haiti and other countries throughout the Caribbean.

UP UP AND AWAY!!

After nearly 5 months of waiting on certification, our newest turbine DC-3, N500MF, has been approved to fly. Our staff and board are so grateful for everyone who has been praying for this aircraft. There is no doubt this turbine powered DC-3 will be a blessing to MFI and the missionaries we serve. This aircraft will haul a much larger load than the piston DC-3 that it will replace. Today, MFI must be extremely efficient with our aircraft and our funding. For the past few months, we have been depleting our engine reserve funds at an alarming rate to keep the airplanes in the air. MFI Responding to Hurricane Relief

Hurricane Irene is barely out of sight of the Bahamas but MFI is flying there tomorrow to begin the relief efforts. We have 600 pounds of tarps loaded on our Cessna 310 and 2000 pounds of water and MRE's (Meals Ready to Eat) loaded on a DC-3 headed to the Turks and Caicos Islands. Quick Engine Change

This week, our piston DC-3 returned from Haiti with some engine issues. After a thorough inspection of the right engine, the MFI mechanics discovered a large amount of metal inside the engine. Even though the engine was only at mid-life, it must be changed. Fortunately we have a spare engine ready to go but there will be some extra expenses that we were not planning on.
